Well not really a fix, I thought it will be just like most water damaged Iphones that I can do a quick fix and get it up an running in minutes.
When I was given this phone it looked like it was brand new, not a scratch on the bezel or the back cover or anywhere else, phone will not charge, I looked into the headphone hack and saw white so I assumed that maybe it isn’t so bad, maybe it needs a new battery as it was laying around for nearly year and a half.

As you can see, the phone looks great on the outside, so far the story of it being new when it happened is true.
I start investigating further by checking the outside test strips.
First is the headphone jack, its hard to take a picture of it so excuse the bad quality.

Alright so its white!!! But this still doesn’t give any indication that the phone will fine inside so I check the bottom test strip.

Yes, its pink, first signs of water, it could also be caused by sweat or humidity but lets investigate further. Next I proceed to open up the iphone and look inside and I see this….

Yes, its really corroded, I think and i am in no way an expert btw, the water was left in the phone, got onto the battery, the chemicals out of the battery got out and ate right trough the board. Someone correct me if I am wrong on this one.
Lets continue…..

The bottom test strip on the board itself is pink too so there was quite a bit of water here.
So we continue….
This is the LCD/Digitizer/Top frame assembly, look at this residue, that part is upside down actually so if there is this much on here then I am starting to think there was quite a bit of water in this phone.

Under the board where the battery sits, you can see green that was stripped off somehow and leaked down. I am really curious now how much water there really has been.
As you can see, alot of water got into the phone and it looks like it was left inside and no attempt to dry it out was made. It ended up corroding the main-board around the bottom right of the phone, right where the contacts where underneath.
I cleaned the corrosion and replaced the battery but the phone will just turn on for a split second with the apple logo appearing for that split second and it shuts down as if a hard reset was done to the phone.
I am pretty sure there is more corrosion under the metal pieces that cover the board. I am in no way an expert in electronics, I have fixed numerous iphones some with water damage but never had I come across this type of damage.
If anyone has any idea what else can be done, feel free to contact me and let me know.
